Building D3

  • dwelling and mill of the homestead from Suchov, local area of Podhájské Mlýny

History

The Podhajský Mill forms a solitary settlement between the villages of Javorník and Suchov in the Horňácko region. It was built by miller Jiří Petrucha in 1757, though its current appearance likely dates to 1878. It is a smaller mill powered by a single overshot water wheel. A characteristic feature of the building is the "výška" (height), an attic chamber lit by small windows, used for storing tools and agricultural products, as well as for living quarters. In addition to grinding grain and farming, the local miller also operated a fulling mill.
